Passive Cooling
DDU worked with the Global Green Growth Institute to develop a series of Passive Cooling Housing Prototypes for hot and/or arid climates.
Given the rapidly urbanising contexts in which these housing prototypes would need to be deployed, alongside climatic performance, the housing prototypes were also designed with the capacity to cluster into an urban strategy, how the houses could grow within the individual plot for household growth or variation, and how the houses could be built with affordable and readily available materials.
There are three prototypes as a part of this study: The Row House, The Pinwheel House, and The Courtyard House.
