Incremental Strategy

Current models of ger district development are not working.  They are dependent on private developers to build housing, and residents to exchange their land for an apartment. Based on our research, we estimate that 63% of that population wish to improve their housing whilst remaining on their existing khashaa, or plot.

We propose an alternative model for in-situ upgrading. 

The incremental strategy demonstrates a collaborative approach for neighbouring families to provide decentralized infrastructure and energy efficient housing, with improved thermal performance, reduced carbon emissions, and with built in sanitation.
